Our History
God has been present and has provided daily bread to His people on this corner. With the love, the protection and the grace of God, Forest Hills Baptist Church has prospered – from the first 45 charter members to over 1,600 members today.
- Only God knew that the first tent revival on this corner, in September of 1960, would spawn 10 or more U.S. and international mission trips each year.
- Only God knew that over 150 women would meet on this corner each week in Bible study.
- Only God knew that such a talented and worshipful choir would come together on this corner to raise their voices in praise.
- Only God knew that over 400 homeless men would come to this corner each winter for food, shelter and a moment of respect.
- Only God knew that a 24 hour prayer room would be established on this corner, and that the prayers from that room would be felt around the world.
- Only God saw the dolls and music boxes that would be made, the shoe boxes that would be filled, the bicycles that would be assembled, the sack lunches that would be prepared on this corner.
- Only God saw the baptisms to come, the discipleship groups, the Promise Keeper trips, the Broadway Revue shows, the senior adult trips, the hospital visits, the DivorceCare meetings, the Vacation Bible Schools, the consignment sales, the CREW work days, and the list goes on.
- Only God knows what the future holds for this corner, this church, this family. May we be faithful as we prayerfully seek God’s will and then join Him in the work He has prepared for us.
As we look to the past, we so clearly recognize the blessings of our loving God, and we realize that we can walk into the future with confidence. We worship a risen Savior. He is present with us. He is calling us to Him. May we be forever faithful to His call.
